Finns made a huge box office success of this film about beloved singer/songwriters Tapio Rautavaara (Tapio Linoja) and Reino Helismaa (Martti Suosalo). In addition to charting the rise of these two celebrities, this film also reveals much about Finland in the years after the war.

This is a rich, family drama!  Helena Viita (Elene Levee), the daughter of two famous Finnish writers, Aila Merenluoto and Lauri Viita,  (Elina Knihtilä and Tommi Korpela) explores her life, and the consequences of mental illness.

All three received Jussi Awards (Finnish Academy Awards equivalent)  for their work in this rich and complex family drama.

Dale Strong, Artist in Oils

“DALE  STRONG,  ARTIST  IN  OILS”

2402 Gallery will have it’s grand opening on June 21, 2009. Ribbon cutting will be at 4pm. Gallery is located on the corner of Grant and Campbell.  Henri El Kaim and Dale will have 16 local artists represented along with a class room where Dale can teach students from the area. Come one, come all! its free to the public. Dale has a “unique” technique of using  flattened ice teaspoons for applying the oils. Come and see for yourself.   Dale  Strong’s landscape paintings are  owned by several U.S. presidents, Hollywood stars and the government of Finland. Dale refers to himself as Dali Poika….
